Autonomous terminal-guidance platform

Vardiron 10-AI

Vardiron 10-AI adds automatic terminal-guidance and cruise-control for target lock, course hold and continued flight when the communications link is disrupted by EW or radio-horizon limits.

Operator selects the target; the module can then guide the aircraft autonomously until engagement or cancellation.

Detailed overview

Purpose of the module

The automatic terminal-guidance module enables missions to continue when the link is lost due to electronic warfare or radio-horizon limitations. Catalogue guidance states target-engagement effectiveness can increase by a factor of 2-4.

How it works

After the operator selects a target, the module autonomously controls the FPV drone: it maintains course to the target and controls the aircraft until the target is reached, including under electronic interference, adverse weather and limited visibility. Flight-control and navigation support climb, level flight, manoeuvring and descent.

Operating modes

Supported modes include Acquisition, Tracking and Autopilot. Autopilot mode allows transit through EW-affected areas without continuous operator stick input. Target acquisition range is up to 500 m with course-hold accuracy of +/-1-2 degrees.

Key capabilities

  • Link-loss resilience for EW and radio-horizon limits
  • Dual-channel ELRS with MiLELRS support
  • Analog 1500 TVL day/night camera on platform
  • ESC 6S 60-80 A; 900 KV motors; FCAT initiation

Engineering advantages

Target lock and course hold

Acquisition and course hold on moving and stationary targets at ranges of up to 500 metres.

Automatic terminal guidance

Course hold to the target without operator input from module activation until engagement or cancellation.

Autopilot / EW transit

The aircraft can transit EW-affected areas autonomously.

Sensor/protocol flexibility

Compatible with CVBS analogue cameras, CSI-2 digital cameras and CRSF control protocols.

Platform avionics otherwise follow the 10-inch ELRS dual-channel architecture with 6S3P 15,000 mAh class power.

How it fits the Vardiron ecosystem

  • Often evaluated alongside baseline 10-B/10 PRO airframes depending on range needs.
  • Still benefits from Control System + relay architecture for the operator-controlled phase of flight.

FAQ

Does 10-AI remove the need for an operator?

No. The operator selects the target. The module then provides autonomous terminal guidance and can continue under link loss until engagement or cancellation.

What interfaces does the guidance module support?

CVBS analogue cameras, CSI-2 digital cameras and CRSF control protocols.
